Coast Cable completes major technology upgrade

First to launch competitive choice in local telephone service

March 7, 2012 Sunshine Coast, BC – With a major network upgrade complete, Coast Cable customers now have a choice in local telephone service providers.

Wayne Rothenberger, Regional Manager, says that Coast Cable’s multi-million dollar investment in its fibre network has enabled the company to be the first to launch local competitive phone service.  “We’re really proud to offer our customers not only the ability to choose when it comes to local phone service but also the ability to bundle telephone with their current Coast Cable Internet and video services for even greater savings.”

Rothenberger confirmed that not only will customers have competitive choice, they will also benefit from free long distance calling to Vancouver and surrounding lower mainland communities. “We’re really excited about launching phone and offering this unique long distance service and expect our customers will be very pleased.”

Another unique advantage that Coast Cable brings to the Sunshine Coast is exclusive local, community programming.

“We have a long history of providing local news, information, entertainment and sports to our viewers through Coast TV including programs like Sunshine Coast Magazine, Coast Cooking with Spence, and Artist in the House to name a few,” says Rothenberger.

He goes on to highlight that Coast Cable is particularly proud of its partnership with Elphinstone Secondary (ETV). “ETV provides students with a wonderful opportunity to showcase the video work they do as part of their onsite training. It’s a cool partnership; the studio is located in a converted classroom and students enrolled in ETV Courses are trained on Coast TV equipment and volunteer on Coast TV shows.”

Rothenberger says that with this recent upgrade customers are in for more good news in the weeks and months ahead. While he would not release any details, he did hint at big news on the TV front.
